Whatever your sport, play safe!
Custom made sports guards are an essential part of many activities these days and a lot of clubs do not let you participate without a protective mouth guard.
Imagine what it would be like if you suddenly lost one or two of your front teeth. Smiling, talking, eating—everything would suddenly be affected. Studies show that athletes are 60 times more likely to suffer harm to the teeth if they’re not wearing a mouthguard. While collision and contact sports, such as boxing, are higher-risk sports for the mouth, you can experience a dental injury in non-contact activities too, such as gymnastics, skating and even horse riding.
Custom made sports guards fit your mouth perfectly and are more comfortable than the boil and bite version, these can be bulky and can make talking difficult.
We offer many colours and two tone colours. You do not have to be a registered patient to have a sports guard made. If you are at a local club or school and would like to enquire about club discounts, please telephone reception.
A night guard is not the sexiest thing in the world, but will stop you grinding and clenching your teeth to the point of destruction. Most people are completely unaware that they do it, because often they do it while they sleep. If your spouse has to wear earplugs at night because of the noise of the grinding….. Don’t be surprised if your dentist says that you should be wearing a night guard.
Bruxism is the medical term for forceful clenching and/or grinding of your teeth. It is considered a major cause of tooth problems. Some patients will say that they notice signs of wear, but it is not just a cosmetic problem it also causes strain on the jaw joints.
Allowed to persist, grinding causes temperature sensitivity, pain because the wear gets down to the nerve, cracks in the teeth, receding gums and eventually lost teeth. Grinding can also cause migraine headaches and pain in the shoulders, neck, back and ears.
